
Christopher Oram, Tony and Olivier Award winning set and costume designer whose designs have been called “exquisite” by The New York Times, gives an insider’s look at the incredible costumes Elena Roger will wear as Evita.

CHRISTOPHER ORAM is a Tony and Olivier Award winning set and costume designer whose designs have been called “exquisite” by The New York Times. Having designed extensively on the fringe in London, he began a long term creative collaboration with the director Michael Grandage in 1995. In addition to EVITA (in London and now on Broadway), some of the work they’ve collaborated on includes A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Richard III with Kenneth Branagh; Edward II with Joseph Fiennes; The Tempest with Derek Jacobi (also Old Vic); Frost/Nixon with Frank Langella and Michael Sheen (West End and Broadway), Othello with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Ewan McGregor, Red with Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne (which subsequently transferred to Broadway and earned Oram a Tony Award); King Lear with Derek Jacobi; and Guys and Dolls with Ewan McGregor and Jane Krakowski. Oram has also designed for film: Kenneth Branagh’s The Magic Flute and Opera: Billy Budd (Glyndebourne), Madame Butterfly (Houston Grand Opera) and Don Giovanni (Met).
