COVID-19 Health & Safety Guidelines

We’re all in this together.

The magic of Broadway is born out of people gathering, in person and in real time. These guidelines were created with the health and safety of our theatre employees, production staff, cast, and audience members always at the forefront. We all have to feel safe for Broadway to return as we all want it to: Brighter. Stronger. Better than ever.

Last updated and effective as of May 5, 2021. This page will be updated as more information becomes available.

WHAT WE’RE DOING: Safety Procedures in the Theatre

It is essential that employees, production staff, cast, or audience members not enter the theatre if they are unwell. We will make every accommodation possible in order for both employees and audience members to feel empowered to stay home if they are sick.

New York State is continuing to work closely with Broadway to plan for our safe and successful return. As public health conditions and the State’s guidance for performing arts and live entertainment change, we will remain flexible and adapt to applicable health protocols. These protocols may include, but are not limited to:

  • Masks. Everyone in the theatre must wear acceptable face coverings or face masks at all times unless the core function of the work or activity being conducted (e.g., cast members on the stage, musicians playing wind instruments) requires otherwise.
  • Cleaning. After each performance, high touch surfaces will be cleaned both backstage and in audience spaces. Once per day, the theatre will be thoroughly cleaned, and hand sanitizer will be stationed throughout the theatre.
  • Air filtration. We’re upgrading our systems to comply with CDC guidelines for hospital grade filtration and increasing fresh outdoor air and air exchange to the greatest extent possible.
  • Reducing contact. As permitted by law, we will distribute digital tickets for entry and touchless payment at the box office, merchandise stands, and bars.

WHAT WE MUST ASK OF OUR AUDIENCE: Patron Requirements

As public health conditions and the State’s guidance for performing arts and live entertainment change, we will remain flexible and adapt to applicable health protocols. Here are some protocols that may be in place when you visit the theatre:

  • Stay home if you’re sick. By entering the theatre, patrons are agreeing that they are not sick and have not had direct contact with anyone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 10 days or exhibits symptoms of COVID-19. It is essential that patrons do not attend the show if they are unwell. We have an exchange and refund policy in place so that patrons may reschedule their tickets if necessary.
  • Hand sanitizer. Upon entering, all patrons will be required to use hand sanitizer (unless medically prohibited) and be encouraged to go directly to their seat unless they need to use the restroom or wish to purchase concession or merchandise items.
  • Masks. Face coverings that cover both nose and mouth must be worn at all times. Masks will be made available for patrons who need them.
  • Contact information. For contact tracing purposes, we encourage all patrons to download the NYS Contact tracing app before entering the theatre so NYS has an easy way to notify you, should there be a need to do so.
