In only a matter of months last year, Jasmine Forsberg had two Broadway shows under her belt.
She made her Broadway debut last summer in the company of Here Lies Love, and right after finishing her run went straight into SIX as Jane Seymour. Reprising her performance from the SIX national tour, she can currently be seen stunning audiences with her rendition of “Heart of Stone” at the Lena Horne Theatre.

Taking some time out of the eight-shows-a-week schedule, Forsberg answered 5 questions with Broadway Direct, telling us how stage productions of The Lion King and 101 Dalmatians paved her career path, which former queen turned The Notebook star amazes her, and what makes the current cast of SIX extra special.
1. What inspired you to become an actor?
I can trace back my love for acting to one pivotal point: watching the touring production of The Lion King in Orlando, Florida, back in 2006. As a little girl, I was enamored by the way actors could captivate an audience of thousands with their storytelling. Shortly after, I auditioned for my first musical — 101 Dalmatians at Magic Curtain Productions, my local community theatre — and I’ve followed my North Star ever since.
2. Who in your field inspires you?
Someone who inspires me both onstage and off is my friend — and former SIX queen — Joy Woods. I had the pleasure of watching her opening night of The Notebook, and the depth, light, humor, and joy that she brings to her work are immeasurable. Anytime a new video drops of Joy dancing, I’m amazed all over again.
3. What will audiences be most excited about seeing in SIX?
If you see the current cast of SIX, audiences will witness six powerful women of color taking up space, uplifting one another, and being unapologetically themselves. Having worked on this show together for the past two and a half years, the connection and chemistry we have cultivated is very special and palpable. There’s no doubt in my mind that the audience will feel like they are a part of that connection and celebration at the Lena Horne night after night.
4. If you didn’t need to sleep at night, what would you spend your time doing?
Team No Sleep activities include more songwriting sessions, more nights spent dancing with friends, and more hours of listening to my favorite podcast, On Purpose With Jay Shetty.
5. What is your favorite NYC spot?
My favorite NYC spot is the Little Red Lighthouse. You can find me there most afternoons while on a riverside run. It’s the perfect place to sit and think — and maybe write out a verse or two in my Notes app.
You can catch Jasmine Forsberg in SIX, now playing at the Lena Horne Theatre.
