Wicked

If you’ve ever wondered what Oz was like before Dorothy arrived, head on over to the Gershwin Theatre for Wicked, based on the 1995 novel Wicked by Gregory Maguire, which was inspired by L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Long before Dorothy arrives, there is another young woman, born with emerald-green skin — smart, fiery, misunderstood, and possessing an extraordinary talent. When she meets a bubbly blonde who is exceptionally popular, their initial rivalry turns into the unlikeliest of friendships … until the world decides to call one “good” and the other one “wicked.” Famously inspired by Baum’s original Wizard of Oz novel, Maguire has said the character of Elphaba received her unique name due to the pronunciation of L. Frank Baum’s initials. Get ready for an unforgettable night with effects, performance, and music that truly defy gravity.
