Broadway Songs that Celebrate Black Artists

February is Black History Month, and we’re taking this opportunity to listen to and celebrate the history and legacy of Black artists in musical theatre. History continues to be in the making, and the contributions of Black artists in musical theatre cannot be overstated.

From “I’m Here” in The Color Purple to “Summertime” in Porgy and Bess, this playlist is just a few of the significant and amazing contributions that Black artists have made in musical theatre.

Have a favorite Broadway song that we missed? Share it with us on Twitter and we might just add it to the list!
