Due to popular demand, the Jeremy O. Harris written Slave Play, is extending its Broadway run by two weeks. The critically acclaimed work will now run through January 19, 2020, at the Golden Theatre. Greg Nobile and Jana Shea of Seaview Productions, Troy Carter, Level Forward, and Nine Stories, founded by Jake Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker made the announcement today. The production must close on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
Slave Play features an eight-person ensemble composed of Ato Blankson-Wood, James Cusati-Moyer, Sullivan Jones, Joaquina Kalukango, Chalia La Tour, Irene Sofia Lucio, Annie McNamara, and Paul Alexander Nolan. The cast is being understudied by Eboni Flowers, Thomas Keegan, Jakeem Dante Powell, and Elizabeth Stahlmann. The production is helmed by celebrated director Robert O’Hara.

Slave Play opened on Broadway on October 6, receiving rave reviews for its originality, audacity, and its spellbinding performances. A recipient of the Rosa Parks Playwriting Award, the Lorraine Hansberry Playwriting Award, The Lotos Foundation Prize in the Arts and Sciences, and the 2018 Paula Vogel Award, Slave Play was nominated for the Outer Critics Circle’s John Gassner Playwrighting Award and the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play.
Also a part of the Slave Play team are Tony Award winner Clint Ramos (scenic design), four-time Drama Desk Award nominee Dede Ayite (costume design), Drama Desk Award nominee Jiyoun Chang (lighting design), and three-time Drama Desk Award nominee Lindsay Jones (sound design and original music).
