Kyle Selig to Star in Water for Elephants on Broadway

Earlier this summer it was announced that Grant Gustin would depart Water For Elephants in September and we now know who will be succeeding the Glee and The Flash favorite at the Imperial Theatre.

Kyle Selig will join the cast of Water for Elephants as Jacob Jankowski beginning September 3, 2024. Gustin, who originated the role of Jacob, will take his final bow on September 1.

Broadway audiences may recognize Selig from his turns in Mean Girls as the original Aaron Samuels and The Book of Mormon as Elder Price. A 2010 Jimmy Award winner, he has also been seen on screen in Welcome to Flatch and Monster High.

Selig joins a cast that includes Isabelle McCalla (The Prom, Shucked), four-time Tony Award nominee Gregg Edelman (City of Angels), Drama Desk and Outer Critic Circle Award nominee Paul Alexander Nolan (Slave Play), Philippe Aymard (Cirque du Soleil’s Dralion), Stan Brown (Homicide: Life in the Streets), Sara Gettelfinger (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) and Wade McCollum (Wicked).

Two-time Tony Award-nominated and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-winning director Jessica Stone’s “huge, heart-filling” production (The New York Times) features a book by three-time Tony nominee Rick Elice adapted from Sara Gruen’s novel, and a soaring score by the acclaimed PigPen Theatre Co.

After losing what matters most, a young man jumps a moving train unsure of where the road will take him and finds a new home with the remarkable crew of a traveling circus, and a life—and love—beyond his wildest dreams. Seen through the eyes of his older self, his adventure becomes a poignant reminder that if you choose the ride, life can begin again at any age.
