Tina – The Tina Turner Musical to Play Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne

The musical sensation Tina – The Tina Turner Musical, which is currently wowing audiences in Britain’s West End, will officially make the trek to Broadway and open at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre this fall. With previews beginning on October 12, 2019 toward a November 7 opening, the musical will feature Tony & Olivier Award-nominee Adrienne Warren, reprising the title role for the Broadway production. Group tickets are on sale today. Single tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10am EST.

Adrienne Warren is best known to Broadway audiences for her Tony-nominated role in Shuffle Along, or, the Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed in 2016. Warren received an Olivier nomination for her work in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. Other stage credits include Bring it On, Dreamgirls, and The Wiz. She has also made a variety of television appearances on such shows as Blue Bloods, Orange is the New Black, and Royal Pains.

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical premiered in April 2018 at the Aldwych Theatre in London, under the direction of  Phyllida Lloyd. Capitalizing on the catalogue of iconic songs brought to life by its titular character, the musical biography is written by Katori Hall with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. Choreography for the piece is by Anthony van Laast, with set and costume designs by Mark Thompson, musical supervision, additional music and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Nevin Steinberg, projection design by Jeff Sugg, and orchestrations by Ethan Popp.

“This new musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race.” Tina: The Tina Turner Musical will be produced on Broadway by Stage Entertainment, James L. Nederlander and Tali Pelman.
