Wicked hits movie theatres later this month on November 22 and a special on NBC will take audiences behind-the-scenes of the film ahead of the film’s release. Premiering on NBC on Tuesday, November 19, watch a new teaser for the special featuring stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
Defying Gravity: The Curtain Rises on Wicked will air Tuesday, November 19, at 10 p.m., streaming on Peacock the following day. Filmed on the movie’s stunning Emerald City set, stars Grande, Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, and Marissa Bode will share personal memories, intimate video diaries, and revealing secrets about their personal journeys through the making of the Universal Pictures film. Plus, the world premiere of a new scene from the film will be shown in the special.
Everything You Need to Know for the Upcoming Wicked Movie
The Wicked films are directed by Jon M. Chu, who helmed the highly-acclaimed In the Heights film adaptation. Original composer Stephen Schwartz will adapt the screenplay with Winnie Holzman, who wrote the book for the musical, and producer of the musical, Marc Platt, is set to produce the film. The first part of Wicked will be released on November 22, 2024, with the second part set to be released on December 25, 2025.
Having recently celebrated its 21st anniversary on Broadway, Wicked is currently running at the Gershwin Theatre.
