It was announced this morning that following the conclusion of Hacks star Meg Stalter’s run in Oh, Mary! on Saturday, September 12, actor, comedian, and Las Culturistas host Bowen Yang will be taking over the role of Mary Todd Lincoln, officially marking his Broadway debut!

The Emmy Award nominee will be in the role for a limited 12-week engagement at the Lyceum Theatre with his first performance scheduled for Tuesday, September 15. Yang will remain in the role through Sunday, December 6, 2026.

“My friendship with Cole has brought me many places over the years: late-night pizzerias, cross-borough social-distance walks, a tough production of Les Misérables sung in Dutch,” said Yang. “But being part of their deranged and profound masterpiece, Oh, Mary! is my favorite one by far. I will spend the rest of my life thanking them for the best Broadway debut a cis gay guy with limited singing ability could ask for.”

Yang will join continuing cast members Phillip James Brannon (Mary’s Husband), Barrett Foa (Mary’s Teacher), Bianca Leigh (Mary’s Chaperone), and returning original cast member Tony Macht (Mary’s Teacher’s Assistant) at the historic Lyceum Theatre.

Yang joins the iconic lineup of performers to play the role of Mary Todd Lincoln, including Tony Award-winning original star and playwright Cole Escola, Betty Gilpin, Tituss Burgess, Jinkx Monsoon, Jane Krakowski, Hannah Solow, John Cameron Mitchell, Maya Rudolph, and Meg Stalter.
