It was announced today that the upcoming Broadway musical, A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical, will release an original Broadway cast recording on Wednesday, November 2, 2023, the same day it begins preview performances on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre. The album will be available on all major streaming platforms and the first single can now be streamed.
The CD will be released on Friday, December 2, just ahead of A Beautiful Noise’s official opening night of Sunday, December 4. Watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes music video of the cast, band, and creative team at New York’s famed Power Station studio recording Diamond’s classic song “Cracklin’ Rosie” here.
The A Beautiful Noise cast recording is produced by Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bob Gaudio, who is also one of the show’s producers with Broadway veteran Ken Davenport. This marks Gaudio’s seventh collaboration with Neil Diamond’s work. He previously produced Diamond’s platinum-selling albums You Don’t Bring Me Flowers (1978), which included the hit title song, a duet with Barbra Streisand, for which he was Grammy nominated for Record of the Year; September Morn (1979); and the soundtrack to The Jazz Singer (1980).
The Broadway cast for A Beautiful Noise is led by Tony Award nominee Will Swenson (Neil Diamond – Then), Mark Jacoby (Neil Diamond – Now), Robyn Hurder (Marcia), and Linda Powell as (Doctor). They are joined by Jessie Fisher (Jaye Posner), Michael McCormick (Paul Colby, Tommy O’Rourke), Tom Alan Robbins (Bert Berns, Kieve Diamond), and Bri Sudia (Ellie Greenwich, Rose Diamond).
The ensemble, swings, and standbys include Neal Benari (standby Neil Diamond – Now), Jordan Dobson, Ninako Donville, Paige Faure, Nick Fradiani (Alternate Neil Diamond – Then), Kalonjee Gallimore, Samantha Gershman, Becky Gulsvig (standby for Ellie Greenwich, Jaye Posner, Marcia, and Rose Diamond), Alex Hairston, Makai Hernandez, Jess LeProtto, Tatiana Lofton, Aaron James McKenzie, Mary Page Nance, Robert Pendilla, Max Sangerman, and MiMi Scardulla.
Including a score of Diamond’s most beloved songs, A Beautiful Noise features a book by four-time Academy Award-nominee Anthony McCarten (I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Theory of Everything), direction by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, American Idiot), and choreography by Olivier Award winner and four-time Tony Award nominee Steven Hoggett (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Once, Black Watch).
With his first break into songwriting in the 1960s and his meteoric rise in the 1970s, and plenty of crushing disappointments and heart-stopping triumphs along the way, Neil Diamond has maintained an almost unthinkable level of superstardom for five straight decades. How did a poor Jewish kid from Brooklyn become one of the most universally adored showmen of all time? There’s only one way to tell it: a musical set to his era-defining smash hits that entranced the world.
