No one leaves for good! Casting updates have been announced for the Broadway revival Into the Woods through November 20, with previous cast members returning to the show.
Beginning October 11, Andy Karl, who played an earlier stint this month as The Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince, will return to the revival as Rapunzel’s Prince, taking over from Joshua Henry. The revival’s original Baker, Brian d’Arcy James, will also return to the production on October 25, playing opposite Stephanie J. Block.
Current cast members staying in the show include Patina Miller and Montego Glover sharing the role of The Witch, Stephanie J. Block as the Baker’s Wife, Gavin Creel as the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince, Krysta Rodriguez as Cinderella, Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, Jim Stanek as the Steward, Ann Harada as Jack’s Mother, Cole Thompson as Jack, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel. Joshua Henry will be in the show through October 11, and Sebastian Arcelus, the current Baker, will play his final show October 23.
Ta’Nika Gibson, Annie Golden, Albert Guerzon, Brooke Ishibashi, Kennedy Kanagawa, David Patrick Kelly, Nancy Opel, Delphi Borich, Felicia Curry, Jason Forbach, Alex Joseph Grayson, Cameron Johnson, Paul Kreppel, Mary Kate Moore, Diane Phelan, and Lucia Spina will continue with the production.
Casting for November 22 through January 8 will be announced at a later date.
New York City Center Encores! production of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical, Into the Woods, began Tuesday, June 28 at the St. James Theatre, officially opening on July 10. The production has been extended for a final time, running through January 8, 2023. Into the Woods is directed by Lear deBessonet, with music direction by Rob Berman with The Encores! Orchestra, and choreographed by Lorin Latarro. This production is dedicated to the memory of Stephen Sondheim.
