It was announced that after 767 performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, the multi award-winning production of Buena Vista Social Club will close on Broadway on Sunday, January 17, 2027.

Buena Vista Social Club has made history since opening on Broadway in March 2025, becoming the first musical to feature a score sung entirely in Spanish. Inspired by true events, the musical brings to life the story of the legendary Cuban artists behind the Grammy Award-winning album and the music that introduced the sounds of Havana to audiences around the world.

In 2027, Buena Vista Social Club will officially transfer to the West End in London. Tickets for all remaining Broadway performances in New York City are now on sale on Broadway Direct, an official ticket seller of Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway.

What is Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway about?

It’s been years since legendary singer Omara Portuondo last entered a recording studio. Once known as the “Queen of Feeling,” her voice was celebrated throughout Cuba—until she vanished from the spotlight. But when an ambitious young record producer brings her a rare opportunity, the elusive diva must finally reckon with her past.

Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway celebrates the golden age of Cuban music with an immersive musical journey that spans from the 1950s through the 1990s. This Tony Award-winning production features authentic Afro-Cuban rhythms including son, bolero, and danzón, performed entirely in Spanish by a world-class ensemble. The show highlights the life and legacy of iconic Cuban musicians such as Omara Portuondo, Compay Segundo, and Ibrahim Ferrer, capturing their remarkable reunion and the creation of a Grammy-winning album that brought Cuban sounds to the global stage.
