Casey Likes to Star as Marty McFly in Back to the Future: The Musical

After recently making his Broadway debut in Almost Famous, it was announced today that Casey Likes will return to Broadway this summer, starring in Back to the Future: The Musical as Marty McFly, the role memorably played by Michael J. Fox in the film trilogy.

Likes joins previously announced cast members Roger Bart and Hugh Coles, who come to Broadway as Doc Brown and George McFly, respectively, after originating the roles in the West End production. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Before his recent Broadway debut in Almost Famous, Likes first caught the eyes of the theater community back in 2019 as a Jimmy Awards finalist. He will next be seen as Gene Simmons in the Neil Bogart biopic Spinning Gold and as Richie Shepard, the leading role in MGM’s feature Dark Harvest.

Back to the Future: The Musical, which won the 2022 Olivier Award for Best New Musical in London’s West End, will begin performances Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Winter Garden Theatre ahead of an official opening Thursday, August 3, 2023. Tickets are now on sale.

Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, Back to the Future: The Musical has a book by Bob Gale, new music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy Award-winning Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film including “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B. Goode.” Bob Gale is the co-creator and co-writer of the Back to the Future film trilogy and Alan Silvestri composed the iconic film score for the series.

Marty McFly is a rock ‘n’ roll teenager who is accidentally transported back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean invented by his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown. But before he can return to 1985, Marty must make sure his high school-aged parents fall in love in order to save his own existence.
