We’re in the midst of the exciting 2022–2023 Broadway season, which is a great time to take a look at all the cast recordings of the shows that have already been released, as well as the ones to expect.
Cast Recordings Available to Stream Now
Although its Broadway journey concluded earlier this year, closing January 8, Almost Famous still has a cast recording for fans to stream, which released digitally on April 21, 2023. Written by Academy Award winner Cameron Crowe and Tony Award winner Tom Kitt, the score can be heard by all here.
A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical
The musical that tells the story of music legend Neil Diamond features all of his greatest hits, performed by Tony Award nominees Will Swenson, Robyn Hurder, and the cast of A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical. Released digitally November 2, 2022, stream the cast recording now.
Into the Woods was the first musical of the 2022–2023 season to open and the first to release a cast recording. Released digitally on September 30, 2022, it took home the Grammy Award in February for Best Musical Theater Album. Hear its Grammy-winning stars Sara Bareilles, Brian d’Arcy James, Patina Miller, and Phillipa Soo perform one of Stephen Sondheim’s most beloved scores by streaming here.
In addition to a previous cast recording released for the original London production, & Juliet released its original Broadway cast recording on October 28, 2022, the day of the musical’s first performance at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. Featuring the songs of Max Martin sung by theater favorites Betsy Wolfe, Stark Sands, and rising star Lorna Courtney, stream it now.
Released digitally on February 14, 2023, Kimberly Akimbo features an original score written by Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori and Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire. With tunes such as “Anagram” sung by Tony Award winner Victoria Clark and “Better” performed by standout Bonnie Milligan, stream the newly released album here.
On May 8, 2023, the cast recording of the short-lived, groundbreaking Broadway musical KPOP became available to stream. The first-ever Broadway musical to celebrate Korean culture with Korean, Korean American, and AAPI representation on- and offstage, KPOP’s cast recording is available to stream here.
Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond currently star in the Broadway revival of Parade and you can now hear them and the rest of the 2023 Broadway cast perform the Jason Robert Brown score. Released by Interscope Records on March 23, 2023, the week following the revival’s opening on Broadway, stream here.
The new musical Shucked is currently on Broadway, serving up hearty laughs nightly at the Nederlander Theatre, and the cast recording was released on May 5, 2023. Produced by Sony Masterworks Broadway, you can now stream the album here.
The latest score from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman can be heard in the new Broadway cast recording of Some Like It Hot which was released on March 24, 2023. Starring Tony Award winner Christian Borle, J. Harrison Ghee, and Adrianna Hicks, the album is available to stream here.
Cast Recordings Available to Stream Soon
The new Broadway revival of Camelot is now open, starring Tony Award winner Andrew Burnap, Phillipa Soo, and Jordan Donica. Soon you will be able to hear the three stars and cast of the Lincoln Center Theater revival when the cast recording drops digitally on June 2.
Start spreading the news! New York, New York will digitally release its original Broadway cast recording on June 9, 2023. Released through the Wine & Peaches label, the album is produced by Michael Croiter, Sam Davis, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and co-produced by Sonia Friedman, Tom Kirdahy, and Craig Balsam.
A cast recording for the Broadway revival of Sweeney Todd, led by Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford, has been announced. No official release date has been revealed, but you can expect the recording later this year and listen to the opening track here.
Cast Recordings Yet to Be Announced
