This Cinderella will be returning to the festival! Tony Award nominee Denée Benton will join the cast of Into the Woods on November 21, reprising her performance as Cinderella, the role she played earlier this year in the City Center Encores! production.
Benton, who will be in the show through December 24, will join a cast that includes Patina Miller and Montego Glover sharing the role of The Witch, Stephanie J. Block as the Baker’s Wife, Brian d’Arcy James as the Baker, Gavin Creel as the Wolf/Cinderella’s Prince, Joshua Henry returns as Rapunzel’s Prince (beginning on November 25), Katy Geraghty as Little Red Ridinghood, Jim Stanek as the Steward, Ann Harada as Jack’s Mother, Cole Thompson as Jack, and Alysia Velez as Rapunzel.
New York City Center Encores! production of James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical, Into the Woods, began Tuesday, June 28 at the St. James Theatre, officially opening on July 10. The production has been extended for a final time, running through January 8, 2023. Into the Woods is directed by Lear deBessonet, with music direction by Rob Berman with The Encores! Orchestra, and choreographed by Lorin Latarro. This production is dedicated to the memory of Stephen Sondheim.
