Erich Bergen to Join Waitress

Erich Bergen, who currently plays Blake Moran on the CBS drama Madam Secretary, will be joining the Broadway production of Waitress this summer. Bergen will take on the role of Dr. Pomatter for a limited stint, starting June 5 and playing through August 12. This will be his Broadway debut.

Bergen is no stranger to musicals. In 2014 he starred as Bob Gaudio in the film Jersey Boys, reprising his performance from the National Tour and Las Vegas productions of the show. Bergan has appeared on several television programs including Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, Person of Interest, and Franklin & Bash. Besides Jersey Boys, his film appearances include How Sweet It Is and Humor Me.

“Waitress tells the story of Jenna (Katharine McPhee, through June 17), an expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This American musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.”

Waitress, which just celebrated its second anniversary on Broadway, features a score by Sara Bareilles, book by Jessie Nelson, adapted from 2007 screenplay by Adrienne Shelly. The musical opened at Broadway’s Brooks Atkinson Theatre in April of 2016. Diane Paulus (PippinHair) directed the show with choreography by Chase Brock. The musical is also touring the country.
