Into the Woods, MJ, & A Strange Loop Among Grammy Nominees

Today the nominations for the 2023 Grammys ceremony were revealed, including the nominees for Best Musical Theater Album.

The nominees for the award this year are the Broadway cast recordings of Caroline, or Change, Into the WoodsMJ, Mr. Saturday Night, SIX, and A Strange Loop.

The nominated cast recordings feature the production’s original cast members with the nominees for the award including Tony Award nominee Sharon D Clarke, Caissie Levy, and Samantha Williams for Caroline, or Change, Grammy Award winner Sara Bareilles, Tony Award nominee Brian d’Arcy James, Tony Award winner Patina Miller, and Grammy Award winner Phillipa Soo for Into the Woods, Tony Award winner Myles Frost and Tavon Olds-Sample for MJ, Tony Award nominee Shoshana Bean, Tony Award winner Billy Crystal, Tony Award winner Randy Graff, and David Paymer for Mr. Saturday Night, and Tony Award nominee Jaquel Spivey for A Strange Loop. Each cast recording’s composers are also included in the nominations, like this year’s Tony Award winners Toby Marlow & Lucy Moss for SIX.

Other nominees this year include the 2021 film adaptation of West Side Story for Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media, as well as Encanto, which features music by Lin-Manuel Miranda and “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” which was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
