Jinkx Monsoon to Star as Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! on Broadway

A new Mary Todd Lincoln is taking the stage over at the Lyceum Theatre! Award-winning actress, recording artist, and drag queen Jinkx Monsoon (RuPaul’s Drag Race, Doctor Who, Little Shop of Horrors, Chicago) will star in Cole Escola’s Oh, Mary! beginning Monday, August 4, 2025, and play a limited eight-week engagement through Saturday, September 27. Monsoon currently stars in Pirates! The Penzance Musical through its final performance on July 27.

“Now — I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Cole Escola is the funniest person alive,” said Monsoon. “Oh, Mary! is one of the best, funniest, most energizing things I’ve seen in my life. To be invited to live in this playground for a time is not only an honor and a privilege, but a lovely chance to showcase the writing talents of one friend, the directorial talents of another, and everything else that comes with this singular production. Happy to trade in one pair of bloomers for another.”

It was also announced that the hit comedy, which won two Tony Awards earlier this month, will extend again through January 4, 2026.

Jinkx Monsoon will star in Oh, Mary! on Broadway.

As previously announced, playwright and original star Cole Escola, who won a Tony Award for their portrayal of Mary Todd Lincoln, will play their final performance on June 21 and six-time Emmy nominee Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) will return to the role of Mary Todd Lincoln for an encore 6-week engagement beginning Monday, June 23, through Saturday, August 2, 2025. Burgess initially played the role March 18 through April 6, following three-time Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin.

Additionally, it was announced today that original cast members Conrad Ricamora, James Scully, Bianca Leigh, and Tony Macht will remain with the show through August 2, 2025.

Directed by 2025 Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, Oh, Mary! opened on Broadway on July 11, 2024, at the Lyceum Theatre, where it became the first show in the theater’s 121-year history to gross more than $1,000,000 in a single week. Oh, Mary! has since broken its own box office record twelve times, and became the first show of the 2024-25 Broadway season to recoup its investment.
