Julianne Moore Joins the Cast of the Upcoming Dear Evan Hansen Film

Oscar-winner Julianne Moore joins the cast of the upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie based on the Broadway musical of the same name, according to Deadline. She is slated to play Heidi Hansen, originated on Broadway by Rachel Bay Jones, who won a Tony Award for her performance.

The movie will star Ben Platt in the title role, reprising his Tony Award-winning performance, and will also feature Amy Adams (Vice) as Cynthia Murphy, Danny Pino (Law and Order: SVU) as Larry Murphy, Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) as Zoe Murphy, Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) as Alana Beck, Colton Ryan (Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen and Girl From the North Country) as Connor Murphy, and Nik Dodani (Atypical) as Jared Kleinman.

Moore is an Oscar winner for her performance in Still Alice and has received Oscar nominations for her roles in Far From Heaven, The Hours, The End of the Affair, and Boogie Nights. Notably, Moore stars in the upcoming film The Woman in the Window, with co-star Amy Adams.

A release date or production deadline has not yet been announced.

Steven Levenson, who wrote the book for the stage musical, also wrote the script for this upcoming film adaptation. Stephen Chbosky, most well known for directing and writing The Perks of Being a Wallflower as well as writing the screenplay for Rent and Beauty and the Beast, is slated to direct. Marc Platt and Adam Siegel will produce for their Universal-based Marc Platt Productions.
