A thrilling night at a theatre near you awaits! It was just revealed that MJ will launch a North American tour at Broadway In Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre on July 15, 2023, and will play in 17 major cities in its first season, while MJ continues its Broadway run at the Neil Simon Theatre.
“We are thrilled by the Broadway response to MJ, and that we are already deep in preparations to bring this exhilarating show to Chicago and across the United States. Chicago is a premier theater and music destination, and we are excited to be able to begin this journey in one of the Nederlander Organization’s most beautiful venues,” said Lia Vollack, the musical’s producer.
The North American tour will play Broadway In Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre from July 15 – September 10, 2023. Tour casting and more tour stops will be announced at a later date.
MJ is the electrifying new Broadway musical that takes audiences inside the creative process of one of the greatest entertainers in history. Featuring over 25 of Michael Jackson’s biggest hits, MJ allows us to rediscover the man in the mirror – with an explosion of music and theatricality as unforgettable as the artist himself.
The new musical features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and a score made up of some of the best-loved, top-selling songs in recording history. Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon directs and choreographs. The production features scenic design by Tony Award winner Derek McLane, lighting design by Tony Award winner Natasha Katz, costume design by Tony Award winner Paul Tazwell, sound design by Olivier Award winner Gareth Owen, projection design by Peter Nigrini, hair & wig design by Charles Lapointe, musical supervision/orchestration/arrangements by David Holcenberg, and musical direction/orchestrations/arrangements by Jason Michael Webb.
