Producer Scott Rudin has reported he will bring actor Dustin Hoffman to star in an upcoming production of Our Town on Broadway. Hoffman will take on the role of Stage Manager in Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning show. Bartlett Sher will direct. Most recently, Sher collaborated with Rudin on To Kill a Mockingbird.
Dustin Hoffman was last seen on Broadway in 1989, in his Tony-nominated role of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice. He has also played Willy Loman in the acclaimed 1984 revival of Death of a Salesman.
Production dates and additional casting have not yet been announced, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has kept Broadway closed through at least January 3, 2021.
This new production of Our Town will be the first Broadway revival since 2002.
