Pretty Woman On-Track for Broadway

Pretty Woman, the musical based on the popular 1990 film starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts, is on-track to open at Broadway’s Nederlander Theatre, on August 16, 2018. Previews will begin on July 20, 2018.

The new musical features a book by Garry Marshall & J.F. Lawton and a score by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. The production will be directed and choreographed by Tony-winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, La Cage aux Folles). Pretty Woman will premiere at Broadway In Chicago’s Oriental Theatre (24 West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL) beginning Tuesday, March 13, 2018, for a strictly limited 5-week engagement.

The cast for Pretty Woman includes Samantha Barks (Les Miserables), Tony-winner Steve Kazee (Once), Eric Anderson (Waitress), Jason Danieley (The Full Monty, Curtains), Kingsley Leggs (The Color Purple, Sister Act), and Orfeh (Legally Blonde). Scenic design will be provided by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner & Philip S. Rosenberg, sound design by John Shivers.

Pretty Woman tells the “Cinderella” story of a prostitute with a heart of gold who finds true love in the arms of a handsome millionaire. Though, at first, they struggle to overcome their differences, the couple finds common ground to make their romance work. “One of the most beloved romantic comedy films of all time, Pretty Woman was produced by Arnon Milchan (New Regency Productions) and swept the world off its feet in 1990 reinventing the romantic comedy genre by making the world believe in happily-ever-after.”

Additional casting and more details will be announced at a later date.
