Il Divo: A Musical Affair

Exclusive: Preview a Song From A Musical Affair

Broadway audiences who have grown accustomed to ever-shrinking pit orchestras have a pleasant surprise waiting for them when they come to see Il Divo present its new album of Broadway standards, A Musical Affair, at the Marquis Theatre.

Twenty pleasant surprises, in fact. That’s how many musicians will be accompanying the incredibly successful vocal quartet on some of Broadway’s most beloved songs, spanning more than 50 years’ worth of material. Such classic songs as “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Some Enchanted Evening” are included, along with more contemporary material like “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?” which is streamable below.
Given the group’s past success with Andrew Lloyd Webber (“Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina”), it should come as no surprise that A Musical Affair features four songs by Webber, including a live recording of “The Music of the Night” that Il Divo performed while opening for Barbra Streisand.

Each features the lush harmonies and stirring orchestrations that have turned the quartet into a global phenomenon. And hearing them just yards away from the theaters where many of these songs were first performed — and in a far more intimate venue than the arenas that the group typically fills — makes it a rare opportunity for Broadway and Il Divo fans alike.

Preview Il Divo’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” in the player below.  The album, A Musical Affair, will be released November 5, 2013.
