Each Thursday, #ThrowbackThursday brings you another memorable moment from Broadway’s past!
This week, we rewind the clock to September of 1966.
- The first revival of Annie Get Your Gun opened at the Broadway Theatre on September 21st, 1966.
- The show ran for only 78 performances before closing on November 26th.
- At the 1981 Tony Awards, it was nominated for two Tony Awards. Before 1966, the award for Best Revival of a Musical was not given out.
- Annie Get Your Gun saw Ethel Merman return to one of her most iconic roles, Annie Oakley. The show also starred Jerry Orbach (seen in last week’s #tbt, 42nd Street).
