NBC’s Annie Live! premiered on Thursday, December 2 marking the network’s first live musical broadcast since 2018’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. The cast was led by Celina Smith in the title role of Annie surrounded by an all-star ensemble including Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan, Harry Connick Jr. as Daddy Warbucks, Nicole Scherzinger as Grace, Tituss Burgess as Rooster, Alan Toy as President Roosevelt, and Megan Hilty as Lily St. Regis.
From classics like “Tomorrow,” “Easy Street,” and even “We Got Annie,” a number that only appeared on film and not in the stage version, which Nicole Scherzinger told Broadway Direct was being performed in Ann Reinking’s honor, the night was surely one to remember.
