Musical theatre legend Stephen Sondheim appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday, September 15, revealing some exciting news. The beloved composer announced that he has been working on a new musical called Square One with David Ives and after a recent reading, is hoping to “get it up next season.”

In his time with Colbert, Sondheim also discussed work he is attached to such as the upcoming return of Company, the new West Side Story film directed by Steven Spielberg, and James Lapine’s new book Putting It Together: How Stephen Sondheim and I Created Sunday in the Park With George.
