We Are Freestyle Love Supreme Documentary Postponed

The We Are Freestyle Love Supreme documentary, set to premiere on Hulu on June 5, has been postponed. A new release date has yet to be announced.

In a statement made on the Freestyle Love Supreme Twitter account, “We are for the freedom of expression, creativity, inclusion, equality, and most of all, love. Our work has always centered around creating a safe space for those ideals to flourish. Our show does not exist without the generations of brilliant black artists that created two of our most beloved American art forms, jazz, and hip-hop.”

The documentary, which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, was directed by Andrew Fried and features Lin-Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail, and Anthony Veneziale, as well as other Freestyle Love Supreme members Utkarsh Ambudkar, Andrew Bancroft, Christopher Jackson, Arthur Lewis, James Monroe Iglehart, Bill Sherman, and Chris Sullivan.

The film was produced by Andrew Fried, Sarina Roma, Thomas Kail, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jill Furman, Jon Steingart, and Jenny Steingart. The documentary will be exclusively available to stream on Hulu when released.
