The original cast of the West End revival featured Eddie Redmayne as the Emcee and Jessie Buckley as Sally Bowles, both winning Olivier Awards for their performances. It has yet to be officially announced if either of the stars will reprise their performance for the Broadway run.
The London revival, directed by Rebecca Frecknall, transformed West End’s Playhouse Theatre into the intimate Kit Kat Club, with the production stating “The Kit Kat Club has laid siege to the Playhouse Theatre in London’s West End. Performers have infiltrated the premises. Artists have staked their claim. Who knows how long we’ll stay, but for now we’re enjoying the party. The party at the end of the world.”
The production will open at the August Wilson Theatre next spring with a Kit Kat Club transformation expected to take place.
Cabaret is one of the most iconic musicals featuring songs “Wilkommen,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Mein Herr,” “Maybe This Time,” “Money,” and the title number “Cabaret,” by legendary composers John Kander and Fred Ebb, with a book by Joe Masteroff.
