Two new cast members and one original Broadway cast member are heading to the Gershwin Theatre! Beginning Tuesday, March 7, John Dossett, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, and William Youmans will join the Broadway cast of Wicked as The Wizard, Nessarose, and Doctor Dillamond, respectively. Youmans returns to the show after originating the role of Doctor Dillamond when the musical first opened on Broadway in 2003.
With Wicked marking his 20th appearance on Broadway, Dossett most recently was seen in last season’s Paradise Square. Sprawl also returns to Broadway after appearing as Marianne Lane in the Tony-winning musical Girl from the North Country. In the nearly 20 years since Wicked opened on Broadway, Youmans has since starred in multiple productions on Broadway including Billy Elliot and To Kill A Mockingbird.
They join a cast which will include Alyssa Fox as Elphaba, McKenzie Kurtz as Glinda, Michele Pawk as Madame Morrible, James D. Gish as Fiyero, and Michael Wartella as Boq. Talia Suskauer (Elphaba), Cleavant Derricks (The Wizard), Clifton Davis (Doctor Dillamond), and Mikayla Renfrow (Nessarose) will play their final performances on Sunday, March 5. Dossett will be co-starring with his wife, Michele Pawk, when he joins the company.
Currently the 5th longest-running show in Broadway history, Wicked is celebrating its 20th Anniversary on Broadway this fall.
