Recently, Miguel has joined the production of A Killer Party: A Murder Mystery Musical, streaming now. He stars as Clarke Staples in this hilarious and irreverent send-up of the classic murder mystery. The fully-produced (from home!) 9-episode musical “is a collaboration between more than 40 Broadway professionals all working together remotely, bringing together actors and musicians, writers and creatives, press agents, backstage personnel, and post-production editors and mixers.”

1. What inspired you to become an actor?

My mom took me to an audition when I was 10. I had never thought of “acting” before. I wanted to be a soccer player. I got a part in a kid’s musical and found a community of people that I loved. I never looked back.

2. Who in your field inspires you?

I am inspired by so many people right now. So many people are using this time to demand change and force the world to listen. I am especially moved by the amazing stuff that the #HamFam, past and present, has done to make our world better. If that is not why we do what we do, then I don’t know what is.

3. What will audiences be most excited about seeing in Hamilton?

I think the most exciting time when we return will be the first chords [in the opening song of Hamilton, “Alexander Hamilton”] “DA, DA DA DUM DUM DUM.” It means the beginning. Not just of our show, but of our return to making art, to making people feel all the feelings. I know I miss that. I can’t wait.

4. What are some things you’ve always wanted to do that you’re able to spend time on now?

I have been spending time learning Spanish. It has been a goal of mine to try to get better. I mean my name is Miguel Cervantes — I have no excuse. VAMOS!

5. What NYC spot are you missing most now?

Blockheads. Too many margaritas outside surrounded by everyone we know.
