Almost Famous Announces Broadway Cast Album Release Date & New Single

Almost Famous is now on Broadway, with book and lyrics by Academy Award and Grammy Award winner Cameron Crowe and music and lyrics by Tony, Grammy, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize Award winner Tom Kitt, and it’s been revealed that a cast recording is on the way.

Sony Masterworks Broadway will release Almost Famous – Original Broadway Cast Recording on March 17, 2023. Available now for preorder on CD and 2-LP vinyl, the album is produced by Scott M. Riesett, Tom Kitt, and Cameron Crowe, and features original music by Kitt with lyrics by Crowe and Kitt. Making its debut alongside today’s preorder announcement is the new track “No Friends” performed by Casey Likes and the company, along with a new music video filmed at Sear Sound recording studio in New York City.

“No Friends” is the fourth single available from the forthcoming Original Broadway Cast Recording of Almost Famous, following the release of “Morocco,” “The Night-Time Sky’s Got Nothing on You” and “Everybody’s Coming Together.”

Based on Crowe’s iconic film, Almost Famous is now in preview performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City with opening night set for November 3, 2022.

The company will also include Matt Bittner, Chad Burris, Gerard Canonico, Julia Cassandra, Brandon Contreras, Jakeim Hart, Van Hughes, Jana Djenne Jackson, Katie Ladner, Danny Lindgren, Erica Mansfield, Alisa Melendez, Emily Schultheis, Daniel Sovich, Libby Winters, and Matthew C. The year is 1973 and it’s all happening. Led Zeppelin is king, Richard Nixon is President, and idealistic 15-year-old William Miller is an aspiring music journalist. When Rolling Stone magazine hires him to go on the road with an up-and-coming band, William is thrust into the rock-and-roll circus, where his love of music, his longing for friendship, and his integrity as a writer collide. Based on the Academy Award-winning film of the same name, Almost Famous is about a young man finding his place in the world and the indelible characters he meets along the way. It’s a celebration of community, family, fandom and the power of music.
