Brandy and Whitney Houston’s Cinderella Is Coming to Disney+

Mark your calendars, it’s not impossible! The iconic Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, starring Brandy and Whitney Houston, is coming to Disney+. It will be available on the platform for streaming starting February 12 at midnight.

Cinderella originally premiered as a TV movie musical in 1997, starring Brandy in the titular role and Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother, and features a racially diverse cast consisting of Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, Veanne Cox, Natalie Desselle, Victor Garber, and Paolo Montalban. It featured Rodgers and Hammerstein’s original music, and is directed by Robert Iscove and written by Robert L. Freedman, adapted from Hammerstein’s book. The show also featured choreography by Rob Marshall, and was produced in part by the musical-loving team of Neil Meron and the late Craig Zadan.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was nominated for several industry awards at the time, including seven Primetime Emmy Awards, winning one for Outstanding Art Direction for a Variety or Music Program.
