Comedian Jeff Ross is bringing his Broadway show, Take a Banana for the Ride, to Netflix in 2026. The one-man-show recently played a limited eight-week engagement at the Nederlander Theatre, and select performances were filmed in September.
In honor of the big move to streaming, here’s a list of other Broadway comedy shows that are available to watch from the comfort of your couch.
700 Sundays
Available to stream on HBO Max.
Billy Crystal’s one-man stand-up comedy special is based on his book 700 Sundays, which was the basis of a 2005 Broadway show. It earned him a special Tony Award. His act was later revived at the Imperial Theatre in 2013 for 54 performances. 700 Sundays refers to the number of Sundays Crystal shared with his father before his passing. His routine talks about growing up in Brooklyn and the relationships he had with his parents and elderly Jewish relatives.
Oh, Hello!
Available to stream on Netflix.
Nick Kroll and John Mulaney pull out all the stops in this Broadway comedy act that played Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre from October 2016 through January 2017. They’re in character as two out-of-touch geriatrics living on the Upper West Side who share a love of tuna. In the middle of the production, they welcome a surprise guest from the audience up on stage for a belly-laughing interview.
John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City
Available to stream on Netflix.
This one-man show didn’t play Broadway, but certainly was close to it. In his stand-up routine, John Mulaney shares stories from his childhood, college, and even from his days at Saturday Night Live. The special was recorded live from Radio City Music Hall in February 2018.

Death, Let Me Do My Special
Available to stream on Netflix.
Rachel Bloom first played a sold-out run at Off-Broadway’s Lucille Lortel Theatre in September 2023, followed by a return engagement in December 2023 to January 2024 at the Orpheum Theatre. The one-woman musical comedy is filled with raunchy and escapist material about what haunted her from the COVID-19 pandemic and all the tumultuous events that followed in her personal life.

Mike Birbiglia: The New One
Available to stream on Netflix.
Countless toys fall from the rafters and onto the stage in Mike Birbiglia’s hilarious one-man show about becoming a dad and parenting. The New One debuted in October 2018 and ran through January 2019 at the Cort Theatre (newly renamed the James Earl Jones Theatre).

Alex Edelman: Just for Us
Available to stream on HBO Max.
Like Billy Crystal, Alex Edelman received a special Tony Award for his “exemplary debut” on Broadway that, according to the Broadway League, “was as moving as it was hilarious and spoke to the power of communication, identity, and empathy at a time when it is needed more than ever.” His summer reign on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre ran from June through August 2023. The show narrows in on a string of anti-Semitic rhetoric pointed in his direction online. So Edelman decides to go straight to the source: specifically, Queens, where he covertly attends a meeting of white nationalists and comes face-to-face with the people behind the keyboards.
Whoopi Goldberg: Direct from Broadway
Available to stream on HBO Max.
In 1983, Whoopi Goldberg created The Spook Show, a one-woman show where she performed different monologues as various characters. The show transferred to Broadway in 1984, retitled Whoopi Goldberg. It ran from October through March 1985 at the Lyceum Theatre and subsequently taped for broadcast as Whoopi Goldberg: Direct From Broadway. The recording earned her a Grammy Award for Whoopi Goldberg: Original Broadway Show Recording, which crowned her the G in EGOT. The show, renamed Whoopi, returned to the same theatre in 2005 for a 20th anniversary celebration.
Wishful Drinking
Available to stream on HBO Max.
Based on Carrie Fisher’s 2008 autobiography, Wishful Drinking was a solo play performed by Fisher on Broadway from October 2009 to January 2010 at Studio 54. The show takes audiences on a roller-coaster ride through her life in Hollywood, growing up with two celebrity parents, her iconic role in Star Wars, a marriage to Paul Simon, addiction, recovery, and motherhood. HBO released a film documentary of the stage show in 2010. The famed Princess Leia died in 2016 at the age of 60.

John Leguizamo’s Latin History for Morons
Available to stream on Netflix.
In this one-man Broadway show, John Leguizamo is inspired by the near total absence of Latinos from his son’s American history books and so he embarks on an outrageously funny, frenzied search to find a Latin hero for his son’s school history project. The performance on Broadway ran from October 2017 to February 2018 at Studio 54.
