You may know him as Anthony Bridgerton and soon you’ll also know him as the Winkie prince. Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey will star as Fiyero in the long-awaited Wicked film adaptation, which will, as previously announced, be split into two separate films.
Bailey joins a cast that includes Cynthia Erivo and Arianda Grande, who will be playing Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. Jon M. Chu, director of both films, took to Twitter to confirm that Bailey would play Fiyero in the upcoming movies.
He’s perfect, they’re perfect. They’d be perfect together. Born to be forever….. I am too excited to pretend this hasn’t been happening. We have a Fiyero!!!! #JonathanBailey #Wicked https://t.co/meT51cGqDe

Bailey, most known for his turn on the popular Netflix series Bridgerton, is also a veteran of the stage, having won an Olivier Award for his performance in the West End revival of Company.
The Wicked film will be directed by Jon M. Chu, who helmed the recently released In the Heights film adaptation. Original composer Stephen Schwartz will adapt the screenplay with Winnie Holzman, who wrote the book for the musical, and producer of the musical, Marc Platt, is set to produce the film. Wicked is now set to be released on successive Christmas holidays, with the first of the two coming to theaters December 2024.
