Where to stay when you make a trip to New York to see a Broadway show? We’ve got you covered! Broadway Direct has rounded up ten hotels, including some newly opened properties in the Theatre District, from 42nd Street all the way to Columbus Circle. Some even have unique Broadway-themed decor and special rate packages.

Lotte New York Palace

This summer, step behind the curtain and into a world of wonder as something truly spellbinding jumps off the Broadway stage and arrives on Madison Avenue. Two timeless, New York City icons, Wicked the Musical and Lotte New York Palace are coming together to invite guests and visitors alike to experience the magic of Oz. This immersive, multi-faceted partnership weaves together Broadway brilliance, luxury hospitality, and a touch of enchantment to create a memorable experience unlike any other.

The Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square

Planning to see a Broadway show at the Palace Theatre (perhaps the upcoming musical Beetlejuice)? The Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square on Broadway and 47th Street is ideal: It’s located directly above the theatre. Tempo is a more contemporary lifestyle hotel space that provides wellness rooms with Peloton bikes and coworking spaces. Head to the 11th floor terrace for bites and drinks at the Highball, which offers views of Times Square and your favorite Broadway marquees.

Motto by Hilton New York City Times Square

Right next door to the Palace Theatre on 48th Street and Broadway is Motto by Hilton New York City Times Square. The hotel, which is designed with a more urban feel, has a chic lobby with a coffee bar. The hotel features a clever design, connecting rooms, and flexible furniture. One of Midtown’s best kept secrets is the hotel restaurant’s incredible $45 four-course pre-theater menu. The restaurant is called The Alderman and also offers a happy hour.

The Knickerbocker Hotel

Located on the edge of Times Square, The Knickerbocker Hotel invites guests to take center stage with its exclusive Gypsy Broadway Experience Package. In celebration of the revival of one of Broadway’s most iconic musicals, the package includes premium orchestra tickets to Gypsy, a themed welcome gift featuring a “Let Me Entertain You” cocktail kit, and in-room Gypsy-inspired memorabilia such as vintage playbills and costume sketches.

Before or after the show, guests can head to the hotel’s legendary St. Cloud Rooftop for a signature cocktail menu inspired by the characters of Gypsy, all set against dazzling skyline views. With its rich theatrical history and unbeatable location just steps from the Great White Way, The Knickerbocker offers a show-stopping stay worthy of Broadway’s brightest lights.

The Chatwal

Love The Outsiders? The Stay Gold Suite at the Chatwal Hotel on 44th Street and 7th Avenue is the newest Broadway-themed escape. The coolest part is that it’s designed by Broadway’s own Krysta Rodriquez, who starred in Smash this past season. Guests can step into 1960s nostalgia with vintage-inspired details. There’s even a record player! Booking the room comes with two tickets to the musical, one complimentary cocktail at The Lamb’s Club, the restaurant within the hotel, and $100 property credit. The Chatwal, which is part of the Hyatt hotel family, is housed inside a landmark built in 1905. It was then reimagined, restored, and relaunched in 2010. The hotel, with 76 rooms, also has a pool.

Marriott Marquis

The queen of Broadway hotels and home to the Marquis Theatre (where Stranger Things: The First Shadow is in performances), the Marriott Marquis is a centerpiece of Times Square. It’s located on Broadway between 45th and 46th Streets. Ride up in a glass elevator to the lobby’s eighth floor, which is a good place to lounge (and even charge your phone) before or after a Broadway show. And there’s an outdoor terrace open nightly. The famous revolving restaurant The View recently reopened its doors following a massive renovation with a design by The Rockwell Group.

Sofitel New York

The official hotel partner of the Tony Awards, the Sofitel New York, located on West 44th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues, is home to several big-time Broadway events, including the Meet the Tony Award Nominees press event. During Tony Award season, there’s also a gigantic Tony Award on display in the lobby. With 30 stories, its Tony Awards Terrace Suite is a real showstopper, with picturesque views of the city and Tony memorabilia — award-winning scripts, a Tony Awards songbook, opening-night photos, invitations, and Playbills from 1960 and beyond.

Hilton Times Square

Have an Arabian Night at the Hilton Times Square and experience the magic of Aladdin in a specially designed room that sleeps four. Located next to the New Amsterdam Theatre on 42nd street between 7th and 8th Avenues, it offers Agrabah-inspired decor, a king bed and queen pullout sofa, and vaulted ceilings. Booking this room comes with complimentary breakfast and valet parking, a wake-up call from the Genie, official Aladdin sleep mask, and Magic Carpet cocktails.

The hotel also has a Lion King–themed one-bedroom suite designed by Devin Sparkles Design on the 23rd floor. The 625-square-foot room is mobility- and hearing-accessible, with a roll-in shower, bathroom grab bars, lowered peepholes, security latches, visual alarm, plus notification devices for the doorbell/door knock and incoming telephone calls. The suite has Pan Asian–inspired woven baskets adorning the walls, bird puppets flying from the ceiling, and hand-painted patterned chairs providing a soft place for guests to land while taking in framed costume sketches. It includes a special wake-up call from Broadway musical’s own Rafiki, a one-of-a-kind autographed costume rendering from one of the musical’s actors, cocktails, dessert, breakfast buffet, and complimentary parking. Additional amenities include a comfortable armchair with ottoman, large windows that open, and an in-room refrigerator.

Mandarin Oriental

For special occasions, the Columbus Circle Mandarin Oriental is rolling out the red carpet for your stay if you book their Broadway VIP experience. Guests get two orchestra tickets, a special gift from the show, and an exclusive meet-and-greet with a starry cast member at the hotel. The one-hour chat takes place in MO Lounge and comes with champagne and light bites. The offer requires a minimum seven-day booking lead time with an at least two-night stay (starting at $2,088 a night). Currently, the shows offered for this are: & Juliet, Aladdin, Boop!, Cabaret, Death Becomes Her, Hadestown, Hamilton, Hell’s Kitchen, MJ: The Musical, Moulin Rouge, SIX, Sunset Blvd, The Great Gatsby, The Lion King, and Wicked, may also be available upon request. The hotel is also close to Central Park and Lincoln Center.

Civilian Hotel

The Civilian Hotel, located on 48th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues, has been one of the hottest spots for Broadway celebrity sightings. The 27-story hotel with 203 rooms was designed by famous Broadway set designer and architect David Rockwell. The lobby, restaurants, and rooms feature a curated collection of theatrical memorabilia. Specifically, the Blue Room showcases a rotating display of costumes and props from various shows. There’s even a rooftop restaurant and bar.
