It was announced that the cast of Dawson’s Creek has teamed up with F Cancer for a memorable one-night-only charity event in New York City on Monday, September 22.
For the first time since the ground-breaking series wrapped, stars James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Philipps will reunite on stage at the renowned Richard Rodgers Theatre for a live reading of the show’s iconic pilot episode to benefit F Cancer and James Van Der Beek, who was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer.
Jason Moore, a Dawson’s Creek alumni himself, is directing the event. The evening is produced by Carl Ogawa, Jason Moore, Michelle Williams, Thomas Kail, Maggie Brohn, Kevin Williamson and Greg Berlanti. Philipps, Smith and Monroe, who joined the show after the first season, will read various roles in the pilot.
Dawson’s Creek was a defining cultural touchstone for an entire generation and revolutionized teen television. Created by Kevin Williamson, the series introduced audiences to Dawson (Van Der Beek), Joey (Holmes), Pacey (Jackson) and Jen (Williams). The group, along with their family and friends, navigated the complexities of adolescence, relationships and social issues. The show gave voice to a generation’s anxieties and self-awareness in ways that resonated deeply with viewers who were navigating similar experiences. Through it all – celebrations, graduations, heartbreaks and loss – the friends stayed close and continued to support each other through the high and low points of life.
Kevin Williamson said, “I am so excited to reunite with James, Michelle, Katie, Joshua, and our “Dawson’s Creek” family for such a special night. “Dawson’s Creek” changed my life. What began as a personal story about a young man and his friends navigating their way through the challenges of life became so much more than I ever dreamed. It created an enduring fandom and legacy all over the world. I am so honored to be a part of it and to support our beautiful friend, James, as we continue to navigate our way through life and its many challenges.”
Michelle Williams added, “We grew up in Capeside and that’s a bond that will last a lifetime. We wanted to gather around our dear friend James and remind him that we are all here. We always have been and we always will be.”
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, August 22 at 10AM PT/1PM ET on Broadway Direct.
