Gypsy on Broadway Starring Audra McDonald Sets Closing For Next Month

It was announced that Gypsy will play its final performance next month. The musical starring six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will close on Broadway on Sunday, August 17, 2025. At that time, the show will have played 28 previews and 269 regular performances at the Majestic Theatre.

In addition to McDonald as Rose, the cast of Gypsy is led by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein as Herbie, Tony Award nominee Joy Woods as Louise, and Jordan Tyson as June. The cast also includes Kevin Csolak as Tulsa, Olivier Award winner Lesli Margherita as Tessie Tura, Lili Thomas as Mazeppa, Mylinda Hull as Electra, Summer Rae Daney and Kyleigh Vickers as Baby Louise, Marley Lianne Gomes and Mila Jaymes as Baby June, Andrew Kober as Mr. Goldstone/Cigar/Bourgeron-Cochon, James McMenamin as Weber/Pastey/Phil, Jacob Ming-Trent as Uncle Jocko, Thomas Silcott as Pop, and Harry Bouvy, Natalie Wachen, and Tryphena Wade in additional roles. Tony Award nominee Montego Glover plays the role of Rose at select Sunday matinee performances.

Six-time Tony Award-winning director George C. Wolfe brings the iconic Gypsy to life, with scenic design by four-time Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, costume design by four-time Tony Award nominee Toni-Leslie James, and lighting design by nine-time Tony Award winner Jules Fisher alongside three-time Tony Award winner Peggy Eisenhauer. The creative team also includes Tony Award winner Scott Lehrer for sound design, Academy Award winner Mia Neal for hair and wig design, and Michael Clifton for makeup design. Animals are provided by William Berloni Theatrical Animals, Inc., with dialect and voice coaching by Kate Wilson. Casting is by Jordan Thaler, CSA and Heidi Griffiths, CSA, and production stage management is led by Rick Steiger.
