Don’t throw away your shot! As previously announced, Mayor Bill De Blasio has plans to create a vaccine mobile site to serve Broadway workers, in a larger initiative to bring Broadway and Off-Broadway back to New York City.
The mobile site has officially launched at a new site on 47th and 7th (the former location of NFL Experience) in the middle of Times Square. The location aims to help get the industry back on stage, while also employing 80-100 Broadway workers who have been laid off to handle administrative support tasks while clinical nurses give out the shots.
Mayor Bill De Blasio was joined by Lin-Manuel Miranda in a performance and press conference to welcome the new Times Square vaccination site, dedicated to providing COVID-19 vaccines to theatre, film, and TV workers.

Lin-Manuel Miranda said, “I can’t help but have a sense of empty chairs at empty tables. I’m thinking of those in the Broadway community we’ve lost over the past year… I’m thinking of Terrence McNally, I’m thinking of the great Nick Cordero, who is my age and we lost to this terrible virus. And I’m thrilled to be here at the opening of a vaccination clinic for Broadway workers.”
