Peters and Salonga to Lead Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends on Broadway

After a successful run in London’s West End, Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends will head to Broadway next spring. Tony Award winners Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga will star in the Stephen Sondheim musical revue, reprising their performances from the show’s recent West End run.

Manhattan Theatre Club, in association with CMI and Daryl Roth, will present the show as part of their next season. The revue celebrating Stephen Sondheim’s greatest works will begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on March 25, 2025.

Devised by Cameron Mackintosh, the production features musical staging and direction by Matthew Bourne and Julia McKenzie and choreography by Stephen Mear.

Manhattan Theatre Club also announced that Jonathan Spector’s Eureka Day would begin their Broadway season this fall. Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the comedy follows a private California elementary school with a Board of Directors that values inclusion above all else – that is, until an outbreak of the mumps forces everyone in the community to reconsider the school’s liberal vaccine policy.

Eureka Day is produced by special arrangement with Sonia Friedman Productions, Wagner Johnson Productions, and Seaview. Previews will begin November 25, 2024
