Due to overwhelming demand, Sam Gold’s new production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet has announced a four week extension through Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Broadway’s Circle in the Square Theatre.
As previously announced, Romeo + Juliet will star Kit Connor (Heartstopper) and Golden Globe Award winner Rachel Zegler (Spielberg’s West Side Story), and is directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, with music by Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff and movement by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh.
As described by the production, “The youth are f**ked. Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”
Romeo + Juliet will begin performances on Thursday, September 26, 2024, and officially open on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Tickets are on sale now, and tickets for the extension will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, August 29.
