Did you know that Broadway is welcoming two former RuPaul’s Drag Race winners back to the stage this month? Jinkx Monsoon, winner of season 5 and All-Stars 7, has returned to the titular role of Oh, Mary! for a second limited engagement. Meanwhile, Bob the Drag Queen, winner of season 8, will be making his Broadway debut in the role of Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical over at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
To celebrate the iconic moment, let’s look back on every Drag Race alum who has made theater herstory!

Bob the Drag Queen (Season 8)
Let’s start with the newest Broadway queen on the block, Bob the Drag Queen! Bob will be making his Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre at the end of this month. He’ll be taking over the role of Harold Zidler, succeeding Robert Petkoff. He will remain in the role for a limited eight-week engagement through March 22. While this is Bob’s first Broadway credit, he is realizing a lifelong goal in this role. “Being on Broadway is the pinnacle of a lifelong dream,” Bob stated. “I’ve been everywhere, from Barracuda Bar to Madison Square Garden, but Broadway was always the goal.”

Jinkx Monsoon (Season 5, All-Stars Season 7)
Jinkx Monsoon, two-time Drag Race winner, is the queen of theater! In recent years, Jinkx has completely taken over the Broadway space, breaking boundaries left and right. She made her official Broadway debut in 2023 as Matron “Mama” Morton in Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre. In early 2024 she became the first drag queen to play a leading role in the Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre, where she played Audrey. She then kicked off 2025 by originating the role of Ruth in Pirates! The Penzance Musical on Broadway, a production that ended up clinching a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Musical. Most recently, she took over the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in the Tony Award–winning play Oh, Mary! at the Lyceum Theatre. She is currently reprising her role for a second run following a successful engagement in the fall of 2025. You can catch her in the show now through February 1, and you can find tickets here.

Marcia Marcia Marcia (Season 15)
Marcia Marcia Marcia, known to the world of Broadway as Marty Lauter, swept us off our feet during season 15 of Drag Race. But prior to their time on RuPaul’s main stage, they spent time on the Broadway stage. In 2018, Lauter made their Broadway debut as a swing in the cast of Kinky Boots. They later joined the Off-Broadway revival of Kinky Boots in 2022 at Stage 42 in the role of Angel. In between the two, they joined the Hello, Dolly! US national tour as an ensemble member. But Lauter’s largest role by far has been The Emcee in the 2024 Broadway revival of Cabaret. Lauter was first cast as Victor while understudying The Emcee, but officially took over the role in late 2025, succeeding Billy Porter alongside David Merino. Together, the two joined a lineage of iconic Emcees, the final pair to take on the role before the production’s final performance in September.

Peppermint (Season 9)
Peppermint, the season 9 runner-up, is known to fans of the show for her surprise appearance in the finale after thinking that she had been eliminated while filming. The queen who was dubbed the Lip Sync Assassin of her season made her Broadway debut just a year after her season aired. Head Over Heels opened at the Hudson Theatre in July 2018, telling the story of an extravagant royal family fighting to save their kingdom. Peppermint was cast in the role of Pythio and remained with the production until its closing in January 2019. She made history by becoming the first trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway.

Bianca Del Rio (Season 6)
This fan favorite queen and winner of season 6 largely credits the start of her career to theater. Starting out in the costume department, Bianca has never been a stranger to Broadway backstage. However, it wasn’t until this past November that she took to the New York stage herself. With a late November opening date, the current Off-Broadway revival of Moliere’s Tartuffe will continue to play at the New York Theatre Workshop through January 25, with Bianca cast as Madame Pernelle. But technically speaking, Bianca made her stage debut long before. Following many years of local theater in New Orleans, Bianca also appeared in the West End in 2019, playing the role of Hugo in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. She then continued with the UK tour for the same show, and remained with the cast for the 2022 US debut of the production in Los Angeles.

In 2022, Drag Race icon Alaska released a concept album written alongside Tomas Costanza and Ash Gordon. Several months after the release of the album, a preliminary production was put together in Los Angeles, which saw success with audiences. Drag: The Musical officially transferred to Off-Broadway at New World Stages in 2024, concluding its run in April 2025. The actual on-stage cast included even more Drag Race favorites, such as Alaska, Jimbo, Jan Sport, Jujubee, and Luxx Noir London.

The play Death Drop, written by Holly Stars, was a “Dragatha Christie murder-mystery” set in a manor on a remote island. Eventually, the show would go on to transfer to Off-Broadway in New York, opening at New World Stages in June 2023. It remains some of these queens’ most notable theater credits.
