Sing Street Releases Debut Single and Announces Cast Album

Sing Street is giving audiences a preview of the show’s score ahead of its Broadway premiere with the release of its debut single, “Up”. You can find the single here. Described by Entertainment Weekly as “an ode to how great it feels to fall in love,” the single accompanies Sony Masterworks Broadway’s announcement of the cast recording available now to pre-order and is set to be digitally released on Thursday, March 26.

Sing Street (Original Broadway Cast Recording), will feature music and lyrics by Gary Clark and John Carney, and was produced by Tony and GRAMMY Award winner Martin Lowe and mixed by Dave Bascombe. It’s digital release coincides with the musical’s first performance, and a physical CD release will follow on Friday, April 17th, two days ahead of the production’s opening night.

The critically-acclaimed musical adaptation of John Carney’s hit indie film follows a group of teenagers who form a New Wave band that provides an escape from their struggles at home and a way to impress a mysterious girl. Set in 1980’s Dublin, Sing Street is a celebration of the thrill of rebellion, the joy of first love, and the power of music.

After a sold-out world premiere at the New York Theatre Workshop this past November, Tony Award winner Rebecca Taichman will direct the Broadway production, with a book by Tony Award winner Enda Walsh, and choreography by Obie Award winner Sonya Tayeh.

Sing Street stars Max Bartos as Darren, Brendan C. Callahan as Gary, Billy Carter as Robert, Zara Devlin as Raphina, Gus Halper as Brendan, Jakeim Hart as Larry, Martin Moran as Brother Baxter, Anne L. Nathan as Sandra, Johnny Newcomb as Barry, Brenock O’Connor as Conor, Gian Perez as Kevin, Sam Poon as Eamon, Skyler Volpe as Anne, Amy Warren as Penny, and Anthony Genovesi as Declan. Off-stage covers include Dashiell Eaves, Ilan Eskenazi and Michael Lepore, with additional casting to be announced soon.

Sing Street will begin performances at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre on March 26, with an official opening on April 19th.
