The new musical Some Like It Hot, which was previously set to premiere in Chicago at the Cadillac Palace Theatre in March 2021, will now head straight to Broadway in Fall of 2021 in light of the cancelation of the Chicago engagement.
The dates, cast, and venue for the Broadway production have yet to be announced. Some Like it Hot, which is based on the 1959 classic MGM film comedy of the same name, features a book by Matthew Lopez, music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph.
“Set in Chicago when Prohibition has everyone thirsty for a little excitement, Some Like It Hot is the rollicking story of two musicians forced to flee the Windy City after witnessing a mob hit. With gangsters hot on their heels, they’re on the run as the newest members of the swingingest big band ever to cross the country. Can they hide in plain sight without completely losing themselves? Or will the mob, the truth, and maybe even love itself finally catch up to them?”
The musical will be produced by the Shubert Organization and Neil Meron.
