What is The Great Gatsby on Broadway about?

The Great Gatsby is a musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s beloved novel of wealth, class, and the American Dream during the Roaring Twenties. Set in the summer of 1922, the story follows Nick Carraway, a young man who moves to New York to work in the bonds business. Nick becomes neighbors with Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire known for throwing extravagant parties.

Gatsby throws these large parties as an attempt to win the affection of Daisy Buchanan, Nick’s married cousin who lives across the bay. With dazzling production numbers, lovely melodies, and an all-star Broadway cast, The Great Gatsby shines a light on the complexities of social class and the consequences of obsession.
