Brandon Victor Dixon and Amra-Faye Wright to Join Chicago on Broadway

This Broadway favorite is heading to Chicago! Two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Victor Dixon will join the long-running revival as Billy Flynn, with Chicago regular Amra-Faye Wright returning as Velma Kelly. The two will begin performances alongside previously announced Angelica Ross on Monday, September 12, at the Ambassador Theatre.

Dixon has long been a Broadway favorite, receiving his first Tony Award nomination in 2006 for originating the role of Harpo in The Color Purple. He’s gone on to star in Motown The MusicalHamilton, and Shuffle Along, for which he earned his second Tony nomination. Wright returns to Chicago, having played the role of Velma Kelly for over 20 years, including runs in London’s West End, Europe, her native South Africa (Fleur du Cap and Naledi Awards), and Japan in Japanese.

The current cast of Chicago features Charlotte d’Amboise as Roxie Hart, Lana Gordon as Velma Kelly, Erich Bergen as Billy Flynn, Charity Angél Dawson as Matron “Mama” Morton, Evan Harrington as Amos Hart and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. The cast also includes David Bushman, Jennifer Dunne, Jessica Ernest, Jeff Gorti, Arian Keddell, Mary Claire King, Joseph London, Barrett Martin, Sharon Moore, Drew Nellessen, Celina Nightengale, Brian O’Brien, Denny Paschall, Jermaine R. Rembert, Rachel Shur, Michael Scirrotto, Christine Cornish Smith and Brian Spitulnik.
