SMASH, inspired by the hit TV show, is finally coming to Broadway in spring 2025! More information, including a theatre and dates, has now been confirmed.
When will SMASH open on Broadway?
SMASH will open on Broadway on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Ahead of its opening, the show will begin preview performances on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

SMASH will star Tony nominee Robyn Hurder (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) as Ivy, two-time Tony nominee Brooks Ashmanskas (The Prom) as Nigel, Krysta Rodriguez (Spring Awakening, SMASH TV Series) as Tracy, John Behlmann (Shucked) as Jerry, two-time Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) as Susan, Caroline Bowman (Frozen Tour) as Karen, Jacqueline B. Arnold (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) as Anita, Bella Coppola (SIX) as Chloe, and Casey Garvin (Some Like It Hot) as Charlie.
What is SMASH about?
SMASH, inspired by the TV series, is a hilarious behind-the-scenes rollercoaster ride about the making of a Marilyn Monroe musical called Bombshell, with all the iconic songs, kick-ass choreography, and backstage pandemonium that make Broadway the beloved institution it is today.
How is SMASH on Broadway different from the TV show?
A newly released music video hinted that the show will include different versions of songs from the TV series in addition to the renditions we’ve come to love.

As teased in a social post, the character descriptions also differ from the TV show, implying that the musical will be a new story for the stage inspired by the events from the series.
Who is on the creative team of SMASH?
SMASH is helmed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman, and features a score by Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winning duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, who wrote over two dozen songs for the television show (many of which will be heard in the musical), a book by Rick Elice and Bob Martin (Tony winner), and choreography by Joshua Bergasse.
