- The show ran for 2,642 performances, making it the 21st longest-running show in Broadway history.
- It was nominated for thirteen Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical.
- Hairspray featured a cast filled with current and future stars like Harvey Fierstein, Matthew Morrison, Dick Latessa, Laura Bell Bundy, Kerry Butler, Jenn Gambetese and Shoshana Bean.
