This week, we rewind the clock to January of 1982.
The original production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat opened at the Royale Theatre (now the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre) on January 27th, 1982.
The show ran for 747 performances before closing on September 4th, 1983.
The show originally featured Bill Hutton as Joseph. He was replaced later in run by stars such as David Cassidy and Andy Gibb of the Bee Gees.
The show was nominated for seven Tony Awards at the 1982 Tony Awards, although it did not win any, losing Best Musical to Nine.
