#ThrowBackThursday – Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

This week, we rewind the clock to January of 1982.
  • The original production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat opened at the Royale Theatre (now the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre) on January 27th, 1982.
  • The show ran for 747 performances before closing on September 4th, 1983.
  • The show originally featured Bill Hutton as Joseph.  He was replaced later in run by stars such as David Cassidy and Andy Gibb of the Bee Gees.
  • The show was nominated for seven Tony Awards at the 1982 Tony Awards, although it did not win any, losing Best Musical to Nine.
